We offer six high-achieving schools in East Oakland:
Achieve Academy, ASCEND, Cox Academy, Lazear Charter Academy, Latitude High, and Learning Without Limits.
All are FREE, public schools that operate independently of Oakland Unified School District.
All provide highly qualified teachers, rigorous academic programs, well-rounded after-school programs, excellent special education services, and comprehensive wrap-around programs to support the whole child and family.

Thank you for applying to an Education for Change (EFC) school! The school lottery will be held virtually on Zoom on March 6, 2025. You can join using the provided Zoom link.
Lottery Event Schedule:
Each school’s lottery will take place at the following times:
🟢 Achieve Academy – 9:00 AM - 9:30 AM
🟡 ASCEND – 9:30 AM - 10:00 AM
🔵 Cox Academy – 10:00 AM - 10:30 AM
🟠 Lazear Charter Academy – 10:30 AM - 11:00 AM
🟣 Learning Without Limits – 11:00 AM - 11:30 AM

Lottery Results: Families will receive lottery results on March 6, 2025.

Accept Deadline: Families must accept or decline their offer by March 20, 2025.
📌 Note: If your child is already enrolled in one of our schools, there is no need to reapply.
It’s Not Too Late to Apply!
The late application season for the 2025-2026 school year opened on February 18, 2025! If you haven’t applied yet, there’s still time to secure a spot for your child at an Education for Change (EFC) school.
📌 Transitional Kindergarten (TK) Eligibility:
Children who turn 4 years old on or before September 1, 2025, are eligible to enroll in our TK program.
How to Apply:
✅ In Person: Visit any of our six schools—Achieve Academy, ASCEND TK-8, Cox Academy, Lazear Charter Academy, Learning Without Limits, or Latitude High—to apply on-site.
